Three points on “Elephant’s coverage” of Israel-Palestine War Crimes.

Waylon addresses comments Readers have made about Elephant’s coverage of the Israel-Palestine war crimes with three points:

  1. We have not been silent. We have covered this issue. It is part of the mindful life and part of our mission. Saying that we haven’t covered it, even if that were true, which it is not, is like saying you haven’t contributed. If you care about our platform, you can participate in it. We’re read-written. If you don’t participate in it, you don’t get to criticize us for not having more than 20 articles on the subject.
  2. We’re not just one voice. It is not just the voice of Waylon. We are a community and we need to hear from people in our community. We need to hear from you. Share your own thoughts.
  3. It is incredibly heartbreaking. Every day. It’s great that the TikTok generation (etc) have woken up to these war crimes, to caring. But, one final note: there are other ongoing genocides in the world that nobody seems to care about. And that undermines our caring. If we care about any innocent women, children, and civilians, we need to care about them all. Martin Luther King Jr. said exactly that. Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. So. Wake up to these other ongoing atrocities. Care about them, too. And let’s look at history, through the lens of good journalism. Journalists are heroes and have been dying to get us good information out of Gaza. We need to learn from history.

“I am not the voice of Elephant. I am the steward of Elephant and
you can write on Elephant anytime. Why is that important? Because there are so many people who know so much more than me. Do we need to hear from me or from Elephant Journal about Palestine? No.

The world is not crying for Elephant’s voice on Palestine.

But we do need to hear from you, and we are a community here to platform you, with respectful dialogue.” ~ Waylon Lewis
